COVER STORY

Falcons, Flowery Branch continue to soar

BY Charles Shepard

Driving into Flowery Branch, the water tower bearing the Atlanta Falcons' red-and-black emblem is visible from Interstate 985. Across the street from the Falcons' 50-acre headquarters and practice facility, C.W. Davis Middle School's marquee also bears the symbol.

Both are signs that Georgia's National Football League team is settling into this North Georgia town of less than 2,000 residents.

But the most significant marker, at least during Falcons minicamp in late April, was the dusty brick player housing building under construction just beyond the east practice fields on the Falcons' grounds. The building accommodated players during the team's July training camp, a first for the Falcons in Flowery Branch.

That is the truest sign the Falcons have made a home in Flowery Branch, signaling an economic boon for Hall County.
